Hacking HR Communities are designed to create meaningful connection, learning, and collaboration among HR and people leaders around the world.
This article explains what Hacking HR Communities are, how they work, and how you can participate—or lead—within them.
Hacking HR Communities are part of a global ecosystem built around professional learning, dialogue, and collaboration.
They are not social groups or marketing channels. They are intentionally designed spaces focused on:
- Learning through conversation
- Peer exchange and reflection
- Community-driven leadership
- Long-term professional growth
All community activity takes place inside the Hacking HR platform to protect quality, trust, and member experience.
Hacking HR Communities operate through two complementary models:
Chapters (Geographic Communities)
Chapters are location-based communities. They:
- Are organized around cities, regions, or countries
- Focus on in-person or regionally relevant engagement
- Reflect the local HR ecosystem and context
- Are led by volunteer Chapter Leaders
Chapters create opportunities for:
- Local dialogue and networking
- In-person or hybrid events
- Regional collaboration within the global Hacking HR ecosystem
Learning Pods (Thematic Communities)
Learning Pods are topic-based, virtual communities. They:
- Focus on a specific theme (e.g., AI in HR, Well-being, Total Rewards)
- Bring together professionals across regions and industries
- Operate primarily through virtual discussions and sessions
- Are led by Learning Pod Leaders
Learning Pods enable:
- Ongoing topic-focused learning
- Peer problem-solving
- Cross-industry collaboration
| Chapters | Learning Pods | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Geographic | Topic-based |
| Scope | Local or regional | Global |
| Format | Often in-person | Primarily virtual |
| Center | City or region centered | Theme or expertise centered |
Both models are equally important and connected within the Hacking HR ecosystem.
Community participation is intentional and active.
Members are encouraged to:
- Join discussions
- Attend community sessions or events
- Share experiences and perspectives
- Listen, reflect, and engage respectfully
Communities are not passive content feeds and are not designed for self-promotion.
All Hacking HR Communities follow shared principles:
- Professionalism and respect
- Inclusivity and accessibility
- Non-promotional engagement
- No selling, pitching, or recruiting
- Constructive, experience-based dialogue
These guidelines protect the quality of conversation and the trust within each community.
Failure to follow community guidelines may result in removal from a community space.
To join a community:
- Log in to your Hacking HR account
- Navigate to the Communities section
- Browse available Chapters and Learning Pods
- Join communities aligned with your interests or location
Some communities may require brief onboarding or orientation to ensure alignment.
Hacking HR hosts regular Community Open Houses to help people understand the community ecosystem before joining or leading.
Open Houses:
- Are live, conversational sessions
- Explain how communities work
- Clarify expectations and values
- Help participants self-select into the right spaces
They are designed to educate before activation, not to promote or sell.
Community leaders play a critical role in shaping the Hacking HR experience.
Leaders are responsible for:
- Hosting sessions or events
- Facilitating dialogue
- Supporting member engagement
- Upholding community standards
Leadership roles:
- Are available by application or invitation
- Typically involve a one-year renewable term
- Require a time commitment of approximately 40–60 hours per year
Leaders receive:
- Visibility within the Hacking HR ecosystem
- Complimentary or discounted Premium+ access
- Priority consideration for speaking and faculty opportunities
All community activity must take place within the Hacking HR platform.
This ensures:
- Shared visibility and access

Independent social media groups or external platforms are not supported for official community activity.
